The ending is disappointing, though.

A Million Tear Drops

Last Updated: Nov 12, 2012

5.00 (moderate) A Million Teardrops is one of those manga that is so gorgeous to look at you instinctively pick it up, but the story leaves you wishing you hadn't. Well, what you can glean from the story. You just get the feeling that the mangaka was so busy drawing, she forgot to explain what was actually happening.
Overview: Gorgeous, detailed art but a confusing and unfulfilling story.

10.00 (excellent) AIR is one of my favorite series; both the series and the movie are definite "must-see"s. The animation is fantastic, the music and voices are wonderful, and the story is very touching. This is a great addition to the KEY anime collection.
I personally recommend watching the series and then the movie if you intend to watch both, and I DO recommend watching both because the movie is not just a recap of the anime, it is an entirely different story with the same basic point.

Overview: An amazing and beautiful anime, but extremely sad.

Alichino

Last Updated: Sep 01, 2011

7.00 (above average) I never start series I know will never be finished, but Alichino's art was so gorgeous I couldn't help myself. Alichino has three volumes released and, for unknown reasons, was abandoned by the mangaka. For those with the spark of hope this will be finished, I would quench that-- it's been years. The series was clearly meant to be many more volumes, from what I can tell from the progression of the plot
But even unfinished this is a fantastic manga (if the lack of an ending doesn't drive you crazy). The art and story have a slight gothic-style feeling, and plenty of characterization and mystery builds up in three volumes.
Overview: Never to be finished, and it's a shame because the art is beautiful and the plot was intriguing.

10.00 (excellent) If you are ever in the mood for old-school bring-you-to-tears-and-make-you-feel-all-fuzzy-inside shoujo, this is what you should read. Of course Red River has it's heart-wrenching moments-- don't make the mistake of thinking that this is all bunnies and rainbows. But it's those sad moments that make the happy scenes so beautiful and captivating, and together they create a breathtaking story.
Even those who are not a fan of old-style shoujo art should be pleased by the beautiful illustrations. And despite being 28 volumes long, at no point is the story dull.
Overview: Shoujo at its finest; you will not find a more heart-warming story.

Baccano!

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Sep 01, 2011

10.00 (excellent) The thing about Baccano! is that the first few episodes will entirely throw you, but if you stick with it, things fall into place and you become addicted. To clarify, Baccano does not start off boring, it just runs entirely out of chronological order which is extremely confusing when you first start watching. But I promise you their is a method to the madness, and the effect of the sequence of events is awesome.
Animation is excellent, characters are hilarious and unique, and the plot will totally grip you.
Overview: Possibly one of the oddest animes I have ever seen, but also one of the best.

Black Blood Brothers

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 23, 2011

9.00 (very good) Black Blood Brothers is a lesser-known anime, but a great one. It is based on an 8 volume light novel series that are not available in English.
In terms of the vampire genre, BBB stands out as a unique take on the theme. The animation is great and so is the voice acting, so the addition of a great plot makes it a little over a 9.
Though, be warned, there are loose ends just like most anime based on something else. The ending leaves you hanging in an annoying way, but a little Wikipedia reading and you get over it. It is my grudge against these loose ends that keep this from being a 10.

Overview: A great anime but loose ends keep it from being perfect.

8.00 (good) A very unique and good series. The animation is great for the year it was made, and the voice acting doesn't give you anything to complain about.
Because the franchise is so large (manga, novels, live-action, spin-offs, etc.) and the series is made to be puzzling, reading some background info before or after watching the anime will help you enjoy it more. The trick is not to think too much as you're watching it; just take things in stride and everything will fall into place.
Overview: A good anime if you're willing to read up on some background information before watching it.

Canaria Child

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Jan 13, 2010

6.25 (average) The first thing you will notice about this series (well, book) is the gorgeous art, which pretty much makes up for where the story falls short. Canaria child is one of those rushed series that has so much potentional crammed on to too few pages. When you learn the entire plot and everyone's secrets in the first chapter, it's just not as satisfying.
Worth reading, though, not like it takes a great deal of time.
